7月5日 FORZA L'ITALIAAt the risk of being stoned by various Socceroos supporters who are still sore about last tuesday morning's match against Italy, I'm going to confess that yes, I have jumped the bandwagon...and yes, I've joined that of the Azzuri, the team that so controversially "robbed" us.
Somehow, I feel that I couldn't betray my Italian links...because I know they would have supported the green and gold if we'd progressed to the semis.
So, as a matter of course, I was stoked this morning when Grosso slipped that beauty past Lehman in the last two minutes of extra time...although, I have to admit that it stung a bit that it was him to score the winner...just a tiny bit :P
Then, while I wasn't jumping off of the settee, it was pretty cool to watch Del Piero make the most of an unselfish pass from Gilardino to finish their opponents off.
Yes, I got a small kick out of Italy's 2-0 win over the host nation. Call me a traitor, whatever. But it was a good win. And I'll be up again at 4 o'clock on Monday morning to watch the final. All that remains to be seen is who will take it up to the Azzuri in Berlin: Portugal or France?
Bets anybody? 6月23日 Greetings all!Well, it is getting to be a long time between blogs...somehow the novelty wore off, well, months ago now. Plus I simply haven't had time.
Now that Uni's over, however, seems pertinent that I update a little.
First point. Computers suck. Big time..but possibly not as much as Max's law sucks.
Halfway through big politics take-home exam on the weekend, decided to go to the kitchen and acquire some brain food, save all work, backing up onto a pen drive, and close all windows down, leave pc running. Came back half an hour later, refreshed and raring to go...AND THE FREAKING THING WON'T WORK!!!! Move the mouse to get rid of the screen saver...nothing. Zilch, zero, naught functioning. Turned out the processor bit the dust and my stomach has marvellous timing. Thank god for laptops and USB drives, because our computer is now being rebuilt.
Secondly. Manuale d'amore is an awesome movie. Think Love Actually, with some great cringe-worthy moments but without the annoying wanker named Colin who can think of nothing else but getting laid, and with constant laugh-out-loud humour...oh, plus its in Itaian...but never fear unilinguals, there are subtitiles. Sooooooo good!
Thirdly. AUSTRALIA GOES THROUGH TO THE NEXT ROUND OF THE WORLD CUP!!!!!Harry Kewell is right up there with Tim Cahill in my book. Next match against Italy (what a coincidence) and I can assure you, there are absolutely NO divided loyalties here...I'll support the green and gold, win or lose. However, I will admit that if we get knocked out, I'll morph into an Azzuri fan for the rest of the tournament. BUT, that hasn't happened yet, and there is a chance that we can pull it off.
So, for the benefit of my dear, dear friends over there in the Belpaese: a resounding "AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!!!" goes out to you all. OLEEEEEE, OLE OLE OLE!!!!

Hey, a question for you all...does anyone else randomly get extremely philosophical moments...I got one of them today...kind of unsettling really...I was going through the photos on my digital camera and i found a random one of my bedroom that i'd taken when i first got the camera for my birthday...and it suddenly entered my mind, that that's a snapshot of a moment that I'll NEVER get back again...i mean, all photos are remnants of a unique millisecond that we won't experience again...amazing hey? All of a sudden i resolved to always live life to the full, live for the moment. Then I came here to write a blog about it....does anyone else see the irony there? resolution now moot. Bit of a shit, hey? heheheh
In other news...only one more week of uni to go before I'm on holidays **dances with joy** But this week is going to be crapola (heheh...word of the week, hey @$H...) a major politics essay due, a history test (gulp), an italian literature test, and a linguistics practical due **wails blood-curdlingly**
But I guess at least after this week I'm relieved of all obligation i have towards other people...ie, pre-season training, turning up to uni tutes, work...among other things...the easter holidays will be all about ME...well, to a certain extent anywyay...in between history essays...

3月23日 Hello all!Long time no see, hey?...well, I reckon it's getting on to at least a week since i last blogged...yeah that sounds about right. But truth is I haven't had ANY access to my home internet in all that time **jaw drops**...how I survived I'm not sure...actually, come to think of it, I didn't really miss it that much...the worst part is having to stay back at the library after uni and use the net there. For those of you who have no idea what i'm on about, I'm house-sitting at my grandparents at the moment, and they don't have broadband, only prepaid **cries** and I can't suck up all their credit 'cause that would just be mean....**sighs wistfully**
Anyway, I'm only home for about an hour and a half tonight so I must go, but i thought I'd just touch base again and see how my lovely peeps are going

anyhow: Evening all!
Has been a busy few days...party, recovery, start uni, gym...ergh...I'm tired just thinking about it.
So today I discovered that Europe, Empire and the World could well be the most boring course that I'm taking...and it's compulsory!! And of course, today being probably the most boringtopic, they place us in the most comfortable lecture theatre in the university, with the lights dimmed slightly, and the airconditioner on full blast...well, I was out like a light...or would have been if not for the matchsticks propping my eyelids open...note to self: take STRONG coffee into these lectures with me (two shots at least)
I also started believing in bad omens...examples? well...start work at 8 a...my first shift icing on my own so i'm nervous enough as it is...then I find out i'm training the new girl on icing (shiiiiiiit.....don't f**k it up mel!!!)...had a splitting headache all day, ran out of bottled water, was running late to netball and walked out the door only to find I had to fix all the settings in my car...then the freaking P-plate wouldnt stay where it was meant to go...I arrive at netball, only to hear this buzing noise around my head and feel a killer insect (aka a massive bee) land on my back (IN MY CAR!!!)...then we lost the final :( ...i know it's not overly dramatic but if my day wasnt full of little omens, then I dont know what they were.
it's good though uni...much more chiiled than high school...only thing is I'm so used to sitting in class like a stunned mullett absorbing everything the teacher tells you that you need to know, that it might be hard to adjust to actually generating discussion...but hey, that'll be the fun bit
Have met some really great people as well...and O-week was awesome...lol, even though I have been permanently put off Farmer's Union Iced Coffee...I mean, who but university students would think of inducing projectile vomit by skulling 4L of the stuff...then projectile-vomiting into a bin non-stop for about 10 minutes..:S
I got an e-mail from the bastard admin department today though...seems they've decided to add an extra $20 dollars onto my entrance fee...wankers....  ouch! I have a really fat mozzie bite, right on the arch of my foot....grrr...it's soooo itchy...

Some of you will be going "so what??"...those who know me will realise how much I despise having someone over my shoulder, pushing me to work harder ("I'm going as fast as I can, DAMMIT!")
Well, I guess it can't be helped...
On the bright side, I'll be fitter than ever before...

xoxo 1月12日 My stomach hurts... and so does my head...maybe that movie this evening disagreed with me...NOTE TO ALL: The Producers is crap. don't go and see it...it's a 2 and a quarter hour waste of money...if you're that desperate, wait till it comes out on dvd and save yourself seven dollars...I must say, I thought it would be heaps better considering it was by Mel Brooks...but i think this is definitely a broadway musical, not fit for the big screen...it was painful!! I mean, it had it's moment of mild humour...ie, the comment about the dress looking like the Chrysler building is gold! (need to see the movie to get it)...but other than that, there definitely werent many good bellly laughs...and just when i thought it was over, it kept going!!!!! At least three times i was mistaken in thinking we'd gotten to the end...but NO! Alas, it continued...oh well, i know not to rent it out on dvd now...gotta go

anyway, yes...went to watch the 20/20 tonight...atmosphere was just like Aussie cricket should be...balmy, stands packed with people (at least most of them) and the overbearing, sickly smell of West End beer!!...ah...epitomises the Australian summer...pity the game itself wasnt that great...Redbacks got slaughtered by WA...but hey, u win some u lose some

12月26日 ERGH....*gurgle*Oh, the day after christmas...jeez i still dont feel so great...i was thinking of hitting the gym tomorrow...then i found out it's going to be 38 degrees...then i rethought the gym idea and threw it on the scrap heap
so, no post-christmas workout for me
 Anyhow, other than a few minor minor hiccups wtih certain family members (I assure you all, it was a standard Phillips/Hutton clan gathering) the day came off pretty ok. Mum and Dad gave me an mp3 player and a couple of little pressies (like a card deck of drinking games...bring them out at New Year's anyone?)

Ellen Fanning made an absolute dipshit comment on A Current Affair tonight. She asked the principal of an Islamic school in Sydney if she agreed that Lebanese teenage boys view Western women in an extremely perverted light. WTF?? How about singling out a social group. She may not have intended for that to sound bad, but it did. How about we look at teenage males as an entire group (including Australian, European, Middle-eastern, Asian etc) and come to the realisation that it is a VERY SMALL MINORITY of guys from any of these backgrounds (and others) who actually view women (once again from any of the above backgrounds and others) in a "perverted light". I mean, hell, there I was walking down the street at Port Noarlunga the other day, a lone seventeen year-old female of European background, and two buffoons, also seemingly of European background, driving a beaten up old comby (actually, doesnt matter wat kind of car...i just thought it was crap and rated a snide mention) yelled out the window at me "Show us your boobs!!"
umm...what wit they demonstrated there...and what a great deal of respect as well...and more than anything...PERVERTS!
So that's right Ellen...it doesnt matter what background someone comes from...they all have the ability to show that kind of disrespect...even females.
